LEBANON, Ohio — The city of Lebanon is expanding its municipal utilities to include solar energy through the Lebanon Solar Project. The City has selected Kokosing Solar as the design and construction partner for this $13.4 million solar project, which will include ground-mounted arrays spanning three City-owned properties spanning Glosser Road and a total of 41 acres of undeveloped land .
Over the life of the solar system, it is expected to save the city and its utility customers more than $27 million and help the city diversify its energy sources. The cost of solar panels is expected to be reduced by about 30% through the Federal Investment Tax Credit direct payment program.
“I am thrilled to be working with the City of Lebanon on this exciting and transformative project for their electric utility,” said Brady Phillips, Director of Solar Energy Operations at Kokosing. “This project shows how environmental stewardship and economic benefits can coexist.” City leaders submit an example to other cities in the Midwest and beyond.”
Scott Brunka of the City of Lebanon said, “The City is committed to providing excellent utility services to our residents and businesses at competitive prices, and this project will support those efforts while providing our communities with new renewable energy opportunities.” .
Kokosing Solar expects to break ground in the spring and complete the project by the end of 2024.
